Private Text Sharing — Encrypted & Self-Destructing
Not all text is meant for everyone. When you need to share passwords, API keys, personal information, or confidential notes, DropText gives you military-grade security tools. End-to-end encryption ensures even we can't read your content. Burn-after-read deletes it after the first view. Password protection adds another layer. Unlike email or messaging apps, there's zero metadata trail — no sender, no recipient, no IP logs.

Features
End-to-end encryption
Your text is encrypted in your browser before it ever reaches our servers. We literally cannot read it. Decryption happens only in the viewer's browser.
Burn after read
The text auto-deletes from our servers the moment someone views it. One view, then it's gone forever. No recovery.
Password protection
Add a password to any shared text. The recipient must enter the password before they can see the content.
Timed expiration
Set an expiry time as short as 1 hour. Even if nobody views the text, it still gets deleted automatically.
No logs, no tracking
We don't log IP addresses of viewers. We don't track who views what. Your privacy is the default, not a premium feature.
HTTPS everywhere
All data in transit is encrypted with TLS. No exceptions, no fallbacks.
Who Uses This?
Sharing passwords
Need to send a password to a colleague? Create a burn-after-read link. They view it once, it's gone forever.
API keys & secrets
Share API keys, database credentials, or SSH keys securely. End-to-end encryption ensures only the intended recipient can read them.
Legal documents
Share confidential contract excerpts or legal notes with auto-expiry. The content disappears after a set time.
Medical information
Share sensitive health information with your doctor via an encrypted, password-protected, self-destructing link.
Whistleblowing
Share sensitive information anonymously. No login required, no IP logging, encrypted content, auto-deletion.

Common Problems Solved
Email isn't private
Email sits in inboxes forever, is scanned by providers, and can be forwarded. DropText links expire and self-destruct.
Chat apps log everything
WhatsApp, Slack, Teams — they all store message history. DropText's burn-after-read leaves zero trace after viewing.
Shared docs have access logs
Google Docs tracks who viewed what and when. DropText doesn't log IP addresses or viewer identities.
Password managers can't share
1Password and Bitwarden share within their ecosystem. DropText creates a secure link anyone can open in a browser.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does end-to-end encryption work on DropText?
Your text is encrypted in your browser using AES-256 before being sent to our servers. The decryption key is part of the URL fragment (#), which never reaches our servers. Only someone with the full link can decrypt the content.
Can DropText staff read my encrypted text?
No. With end-to-end encryption enabled, your content is encrypted before it leaves your browser. We store only ciphertext. Without the key (which is in your URL), it's unreadable.
What is burn-after-read?
Burn-after-read creates a one-time link. The moment someone opens the link and views the content, it's permanently deleted from our servers. There's no way to view it again.
Can I use both encryption and burn-after-read?
Yes. You can combine end-to-end encryption + password protection + burn-after-read for maximum security. The text is encrypted, password-locked, and auto-deletes after one view.
Is DropText private text sharing free?
Basic sharing with auto-expiry is free. Password protection and burn-after-read require Pro (₹199/mo). End-to-end encryption requires Elite (₹399/mo).
How is this different from Signal or encrypted email?
DropText doesn't require the recipient to have any app or account. They just open a link in their browser. It's the lowest-friction way to share sensitive text securely.
